How Varietly collects and ranks GLP-1 pricing data
The product is useful only if every important number can be traced, challenged, and corrected.
Collection
Capture public provider pricing, plan inclusions, state availability, and policy pages as timestamped source records.
Normalization
Separate membership, medication, onboarding, lab, and refill charges. Do not compare promotional prices without labeling them.
Verification
Require a human reviewer to approve material changes and retain both the previous and new observations.
Ranking
Publish factor weights and calculate price, coverage, support, and switching friction independently.
Corrections
Display a correction date, preserve the source trail, and prioritize provider-submitted evidence without accepting unsupported claims.
Conflicts
Varietly currently has no affiliate or paid-placement relationship with any provider it lists. If that ever changes, disclose it clearly on the affected pages and keep commercial terms out of the underlying price data.
Questions we get about this data
Why does a price sometimes show as "Not published" instead of a number?
A missing price means the provider bills medication through a pharmacy or insurance rather than a flat cash rate, or that no reviewer has verified a figure for it yet. It never means the medication is free — a missing price is treated as unknown, not zero.
How is an introductory or promotional price handled?
Promotional prices are shown, but rankings, comparisons, and the switching planner use the ongoing rate once one is published, since that's what a member actually pays after the first month.
What does "verified" mean on a provider page?
A human reviewer has checked every price against its cited source before the provider is published. Providers that haven't cleared that review are labelled unverified and excluded from search-indexed comparisons.
How often is pricing re-checked?
Verification is a manual review cycle, not an automated scrape. Each price observation carries the date it was last checked, shown on the provider's page and price history.
